Main Street Revitalization – Village of Manlius
DESCRIPTION
MRB Group was retained by the Village of Manlius to develop a proposal for the Onondaga County Beautification and Revitalization grant program. Through an intensive planning process, the Committee developed a vision for the project area consisting of a series of private and public improvement projects that, when implemented, will serve as a catalyst for additional growth and revitalization throughout the community. To develop the vision, the Committee participated in downtown walking tours, identified areas prime for future redevelopment, met with individual business owners, participated in weekly in- person status meetings, and hosted a business and property owner event.
RESULTS
As a result of the planning process, the Committee identified three public improvement projects and a series of facade and exterior renovations that will directly contribute to the
Village’s quality of life. Each of the projects focused on placemaking and reimagining the public realm. Design elements include new sidewalk paving material, street furniture, lighting, landscaping, and signage. Main Street projects addressed (1) the Clock Plaza; (2) the East Seneca Street Plaza; (3) Bruegger’s Plaza, and (4) Main Street Facade and Exterior Improvements to be implemented in partnership with private businesses.
